colour & design surgery…how can I wear this season’s colour blocking trend & still look professional?
This is part of the colour & design surgery series, answering questions from clients and readers.
Question: “I love this season’s fashion trend of colour blocking but am a little reluctant to wear it for business meetings as I want to be taken seriously and the colours are so bright! Do you have any tips on colour combinations to wear that portray a sense of fun while maintaining professionalism?”
- Alicia Cowan, Absolute PA
Are you thinking of designing your own bathroom? Wondering how to go about it? Who better to ask to share their approach than Reed Harris, the Tile Specialists. And there’s a special offer on their amazing range of tiles at the end of this article.
Each month I search out inspiring colour and design events, exhibitions and tradeshows from the UK and around the world. Here are my finds for July, quite an eclectic assortment.
Outlandish, balance defying, flamboyant colourful hats … it can only mean Ladies Day at Royal Ascot. It’s the day when the ladies let their imaginations (or their milliner’s) go wild, expressing their personality through colour and creativity! Other than loving all the colour, I’m amazed at how the ladies manage to stay upright, balancing these larger than life creations on their heads.
This was my third time to the Isle of Wight festival. What makes me return year after year is the laidback, chilled out vibe and superb music (my favourites this year were Foo Fighters and Seasick Steve). And plenty of colour!
In the fourth of my world’s most unusual hotels series, I’m featuring the Wanderlust hotel, located in Little India, Singapore.
The owner of this four storey boutique hotel gave four design agencies an entire floor each and full creative freedom to design whatever they wanted. And design they did, letting their imaginations run wild, resulting in four ‘in-your-face’ themes – ‘Industrial Glam’, ‘Eccentricity’, ‘Is it just black and white?’ and ‘Creature Comforts’. This concept was the brainchild of hip hotelier Loh lik Peng.
When I saw the new Prime Location ad, I couldn’t help but smile, seeing all those beautiful yellow daffodils, ducks and just about anything else yellow they could get their hands on!
The advert depicts a homeowner who’s certainly very excited exclaiming
“Yellow encourages the buying emotion, it’s subliminal, but it just screams ‘buy me!’ ‘buy me!’”
Continuing the PrimeLocation.com Property Blogs Awards series, this month I’m interviewing Mike O’Flynn from Planet Property, run away winner of the Best Newcomer crown, thanks to its fresh mix of news, views and fun featured properties.
Enjoy an interview with… Mike O’Flynn.
