Each month I search out inspiring colour and design events, exhibitions and tradeshows from the UK and around the world. August is a somewhat quiet month, but the exhibitions on offer are no less fascinating.

‘colour chart: reinventing colour, 1950 to today’ , liverpool aug –  13 sept
At a time of unprecedented interest in the role of colour in graphic design, fashion and interior design, this colour exhibition at the Tate looks at the moment in twentieth-century art, when a group of artists began to perceive colour as ‘readymade’ rather than as scientific or expressive.

Add some colour to your life with this inspiring exhibition at World Museum.

summer exhibition, london 1st – 15 august
The Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition is the largest open contemporary art exhibition in the world, drawing together a wide range of new and recent work by established, unknown and emerging artists.

savage beauty, met nyc 1st – 07 august
Organised by The Costume Institute, this exhibition celebrates the late Alexander McQueen’s extraordinary contributions to fashion and design.
