The Turner Contemporary is the proud host to the Sol Le Witt painting 1136 which can now be seen spanning two entire walls of the upper floor gallery.

To compliment this, a special colour project was created for a group of local young people to explore and experience the fascinating, multi dimensions of the sensation that we know as colour. Working with leading colour artists, scientist and colour professionals, their interactive experiences of creating art and ideas about colour were recorded and the short film is now on show in the gallery alongside the Sol Le Witt.

Colour Group GB committee members Philip Reilly artist and Janet Best fashion colour specialist shared insights to many different aspects of colour.

Janet and I attended the special gallery opening celebration to support the colour students as they received their certificates from the director of the Turner and the launch of their film. It’s wonderful to see the students fascination and love of colour.
