When Brent Berlin and Paul Kay introduced basic colour terms in their 1969 book ‘Basic color terms: Their Universality and Evolution’, it was the start of a new way of thinking about colour terms and colour naming.

dulux Colour Futures™ 2013 trend colour sneak peek…
On Friday I headed off to what is becoming an annual event for me, listening to the engaging and interesting AkzoNobel colour expert, Per Nimer, discussing futures trends in colour. It is at this talk where Per also announces the coming year’s trend colour.

Building brand awareness is just as important for small businesses as it is for the major brands. A great way to increase brand recognition is through your customer facing business interiors whether that is a store, boutique or office.
Create an interior that projects your brand’s personality and message. To not do this you will be missing out on an important marketing opportunity and it could negatively affect your brand.

This year the UK is awash with celebrations marking Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth’s amazing 60 years on the throne. Vogue Magazine has put together a colour review of her outfits from the past 12 months. Today just happens to be her 86th birthday, so what better day to look at her year in colour.

What message is being conveyed when a brand choses blue as their primary branding colour? Psychologically blue presents trust, integrity, communication. However, use the wrong tone of blue and it’s the colour that can make a brand appear cold, aloof and unapproachable.
